THE MISSION

The Embassy of Nigeria in Sweden was established in 1967, shortly after Nigeria gained independence. Its purpose was to strengthen the cordial relationship between Nigeria and the Nordic countries. The Embassy’s diplomatic jurisdiction includes Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark, and it provides services to citizens within these countries.
The primary objective of the Embassy has always been to broaden and enhance relations between Nigeria and the Nordic countries in various domains. Over the years, these relations have grown stronger, particularly in the fields of Art and Culture, Science and Technology, Education, and Sports.
Economic activities between Nigeria and notable Nordic companies have experienced a significant upswing. Renowned companies such as Statoil, Nokia, Ericsson, Maersk-Moller, Aker, Hydro, ABB, Tetrapak, and Electrolux have been actively involved. Additionally, numerous small and medium-scale companies from the Nordic countries are venturing into the Nigerian market.
Nigeria’s recent economic reforms, restructuring efforts, and favorable macroeconomic policies have opened up new opportunities for expanding and strengthening socioeconomic cooperation with the Nordic countries. The Embassy of Nigeria in Stockholm remains dedicated to promoting Nigeria’s interests within the Nordic region and on a global scale.
