  • Any Other Documents That May Attest To The Authenticity Of The Marriage

Requirements for Attestation of Marital status:

  • Written application duly signed by the applicant.
  • Evidence of payment.
  • Birth certificate or attestation of birth from National Population Commission.
  • Certificate of local government origin with passport photographs.
  • Scanned copy of data page of International passport.
  • Copy of law of foreign country that states that the attestation of marital status from the country of origin is required.
  • Notarized letter from Local Government of origin affirming the applicant is known to the Local Government.
  • Affidavit of marital status deposed to by applicant before an authorized official in the foreign country or by a senior Foreign Affairs serving at the nearest Nigerian Embassy or High Commission.
  • Notarized letter from parent or other senior family member confirming that applicant’s marital status..
  • Passport photo of both applicant and spouse.
  • Full length colour pictures of both the applicant and the spouse.
  • The full address of the applicant corresponds with the address on the ID card issued by the foreign government.
  • Valid email addresses and phone number of the applicant and spouse in the foreign country of residence.
  • Sworn affidavit of marital status from the high court.
    • i. Curriculum vitae.
    • ii. Identify cards e.g Driver’s License or passport, National identity card etc. (scanned copy)

The Embassy does not accept cash payments for any services.
All transactions must be processed through the official approved payment channels, as outlined on the Embassy's website.

NON-REFUNDABLE POLICY

All fees paid for administrative services are non-refundable and non-transferable. This policy applies to all payments and transfers made into designated Embassy accounts.
Applicants bear full responsibility for ensuring the accuracy of payment details, including the correct service category, applicable fee, and designated account, before making payment.
Requests for refunds arising from errors, excess payments, or payments made into an incorrect account will not be considered. Payment of any administrative fee constitutes full acceptance of this policy. Applicants who are uncertain about any aspect of the payment process are advised to seek clarification before proceeding.


3. Submission of Applications
Applicants are advised to submit their applications using self-addressed envelopes with pre-paid postage (UPS or DHL). This will ensure that your documents are returned to you safely.
